Meet Wesley - Your Customer Care Champion at IZ Adaptive!

We're beyond excited to introduce you to Wesley, the heartbeat behind our Customer Care team here at IZ Adaptive! Wesley isn't just any Customer Care Specialist - they're a dedicated champion ensuring every interaction with our brand leaves you with a smile from ear to ear!

Let's get to know Wesley and discover the passion behind the smile!

1. Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

Absolutely! I’m a 24-year-old, white non-binary, power chair user with cerebral palsy. I graduated from York University’s Acting Conservatory BFA in 2022 and started working for IZ in 2023. When I’m not working customer care, you can find me on film sets, working on writing and tabletop gaming projects, and video gaming with friends.

2. What inspired you to join the IZ Adaptive team as a Customer Care Specialist?

I met Izzy on the set of AMI’s Fashion Dis and was lucky enough to become a team member after that. Even before I started to work with the team, I have been a fan of IZ Adaptive for many years. Adaptive fashion is incredibly important to me as I never really had my own defined style growing up. It wasn’t possible at the time, given how limited adaptive fashion was and how expensive custom-made clothing can be. I was inspired to join the team to help as many people as possible to feel comfortable in their own skin alongside an industry-leading company!

3. What sets IZ Adaptive's customer care apart from other brands?

What sets us apart is that we hire people with disabilities and real, lived experience to our team. This helps us to understand the realities of our customers and experience feedback as members within the community. We understand what it is like to need adaptive clothing and we understand how difficult it can be to find something that works. As a small business, we are able to confidently set goals in new directions that are directly informed by the wants and lived experiences of people with disabilities.

4. What’s the best part of your job?

The best part of my job hands down his hearing that we’ve helped someone finally find a piece that is stylish and comfortable. That after years of searching, they don’t have to sacrifice fashion for function or vice versa. Getting that feedback from customers definitely fills my cup.

5. What's one piece of advice you would give to someone new to adaptive fashion?

Firstly, that adaptive fashion does exist and it’s always improving. Secondly, don’t get discouraged if you try something and it doesn’t work out the first time. That’s why our return policy is as open as possible because we understand that you can’t know if something works without trying it on for yourself sometimes. Finally, find what works for you. You don’t have to measure up to anybody standards but your own, if you feel stylish in what you’re wearing and it’s nice and comfy, shoot for the stars!

6. What's your favorite IZ Adaptive piece and why?

Of course I’m in love with the entire collection, I wish I could just replace my entire wardrobe with a snap of my fingers, but if I had to pick one thing in particular, I adore our quilted vest! It is so easy to dress up or dress down for any occasion and I love playing around with it to see how it affects my gender presentation.
