1) Can you share a little bit about yourself? What is your occupation and other stuff about you?
My name is Andrew Kooger, I was paralyzed in 2020 in a mountain biking accident. I work full time in finance for one of the largest Asset Management firms in Canada. I also do corporate keynote speaking and run workshops on personal development. I should also mention I am a co-founder of Maximus Athletics, a sport nutrition and Supplement company. As you can imagine, I am quite busy but I still find time to do the things I love like the gym, adaptive mountain biking, handcycling, writing and hanging with my 150lb Cane Corso, Enzo.
2) Describe your fashion style and what are your go-to’s.
You can find me in gym clothes/athleisure wear or my bespoke suits. There is no inbetween. My suits are usually inspired by Italian styles with fabrics from both Italian and English mills.
3) How long have you been an IZ model and what do you like about doing this work?
I think I have worked with IZ for a few years now on and off? It’s hard to put an exact timeline on something you enjoy doing. I enjoy doing it simply because of the passion and love Izzy, the owner has for her brand and community. I consider her a close friend at this point and not only do I love working with friends but I love working with passionate people and there is a hint of love and passion in every garment that comes out of IZ Adaptive.
4) Do you feel clothing makes a difference in how you look and feel mentally and emotionally?
Clothes most definitely make a difference, they are an extension of who you are and express personality through the woven fabrics of what you wear. They allow you to feel confident in who you are.
5) Do you feel adaptive clothing can positively impact people's lives who could benefit from them?
Most definitely, Especially when there is a balance that does not sacrifice style for function. IZ Adaptive provides this balance for its customers and although due to my function and personal style being simple gym clothes and bespoke suits, I may not personally use adaptive clothing, I have spoken to countless people who it makes a massive difference in their lives both mentally, physically and even health wise as they do not need to worry about things such as pressure sores.
6) Tell us an interesting fact about yourself.
I wrote a book, it's coming out in July. That’s interesting, I think.
7) What are some or one of the things you are proud of about your life thus far?
I am not really sure, once I accomplish something I don’t take the time to appreciate it. I simply focus on what's next. I am satisfied with my resilience in rebuilding my life after my accident, I am content with my career and I feel some of my ambitions around business are coming to fruition along with my athletic pursuits. I just want to keep building.
8) What is your opinion of IZ Adaptive and the work it does?
I have a very strong and positive opinion of IZ Adaptive and the work they do. The community they have fostered and the care they have for that community. IZ Adaptive is a staple in the Fashion world and I wish them nothing but further success along with their amazing leader, Izzy who I consider a dear friend.
